Louis F. Daniel, Director

About the director...

Louis Daniel is a native of Pascagoula, MS.  An active participant in church and school
choral programs growing up, Louis continued his piano studies, as well as studied voice
upon reaching the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating with a choral degree in
1987.  He served as organist of First United Methodist Church, Pascagoula, MS, for eight
years, organist of First Presbyterian Church of Pascagoula for four years, and as a
professional chorister at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Mobile, AL for a little over two
years.

Louis also composes music, having written several pieces which have been performed in
the local area including the Christmas piece, Love Come This Blessed Morn.  Originally
written as a children’s choir piece while in the position at First Presbyterian, it was
expanded first to an SATB choir/ string quartet & organ work.  Then, the piece was
expanded further for larger orchestral resources for its Mobile debut, performed by
Musica Sacra Choir and Chamber Orchestra of Mobile under the direction of Christopher
Uhl in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  The work was then subsequently
performed by Gloria Dei Chorale and has become, through the various performances of
these local groups, somewhat of a local favorite with our patrons.  Louis continues to write,
predominantly sacred choral music, and is intent upon finishing a longstanding project...
that of a Requiem in memory of his father, Floyd F. Daniel, who passed away in December,
1994.

Louis currently lives in Mobile and is in his sixth year as the Choirmaster/Organist of St.
Luke’s Episcopal Church.  He also teaches seventh grade English at George County Middle
School in Lucedale, Mississippi.

“Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
give to him glorious praise.”
Psalm 66:1-2
